What's the Question

One of my prof's once argued that every title should propose, and partially answer, a question. What's the question in "the (second) best we can"? What is its answer?

I have my own ideas, what are yours?

I'll take a stab at it! If the beginning of the answer is "the (second) best we can," I'd guess that the question is something to the tune of: "Accepting that our solution to x problem cannot be perfect or ideal in meeting the qualifications that we've defined, what's our next best feasible option?

btw, I don't think you should call yourself a "former" anthropology major - I certainly don't! I think of myself as a former BA student, but will consider my studies to be in the present until I someday lose interest or the energy to at least occasionally learn more.
